PREMIER Mark McGowan and Planning Minister Rita Saffioti met with Mayor Penny Taylor and chief executive Rochelle Lavery on Wednesday to discuss the City of Subiaco’s cultural space concept for Subi East.
The City wants the space included in LandCorp’s redevelopment plans for Subi East.
The concept was supported by the City in June 2018, and proposes a space within the redevelopment area that celebrates football, education, culture and the heritage of the site.
Ms Taylor met with Premier McGowan to discuss the concept as well as design outcomes, active green space and community use of Subiaco Oval.
“Premier McGowan and Minister Saffioti listened to and understood the City’s concept for honouring the site’s history through a cultural space,” Ms Taylor said.
“The heritage listed entry gates are also being preserved and there is a unique opportunity for those gates to become the entrance to a space that celebrates sports, culture and the arts.”
A Subi East redevelopment business case will soon be finalised by LandCorp and provide direction for the State Government’s master planning phase due to begin in late 2019.
