Shoe company TOMS launched the event, which for the first time this year will donate a pair of shoes to a child in need for every Instagram post featuring the hashtag #withoutshoes.
TOMS aims to donate one million pairs of shoes this year.
The Cottesloe Beach Hotel is supporting the initiative by providing free coffee and breakfast to barefoot walkers this Thursday from 6.30am to 7.30am.

READ NOWTOMS managing director John Elliot, who will be in Perth for the event, said the walk would create positive awareness for the almost three billion children around the world without shoes.
"Normally people would have to buy shoes but this year you can contribute by just taking a photo of your feet and using #withoutshoes on Instagram," Mr Elliot said.
