Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

THE RAC rescue helicopter took a female kitesurfer aged in her 20s with suspected spinal injuries from Point Walter to Royal Perth Hospital about 11am.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said it was thought the injuries were non-life threatening.

There were gusty easterly winds at the kiting and wind surfing spot popular with Europeans and Perth residents when the woman was injured about 10.15am.

“There are police out at the point, and I was told the ambulance had been here for about an hour,” witness Ian Collishaw said.

The helicopter took another female kite surfer about 400m to a waiting ambulance when she broke her leg at Woodmans Point, Henderson in early December.
