Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

SMASHED car windows and thefts have tenants distraught and after a spree on several Mosman Park streets last week.

“It’s a beautiful area, but to wake up to these kinds of experiences on Australia Day is devastating,” resident and Village Place victim Libby Collett said.

Ms Collett’s Mazda, parked in the small street off Wellington Street, was one of at least four cars which had their windows smashed and some valuables taken.

In addition, two 4WDS were reported broken into on Stuart Street near Mosman Park Railway Station, and others on Ecclesborne Street and Stirling Highway.

About four cars in Harvest Road and at least one on Leighton Beach Boulevard had their windows smashed and valuables taken in a similar incident in North Fremantle a fortnight ago.

Mosman Park Mayor Brett Pollock said a community safety group with police, rangers and active residents would meet to consider re-establishing Neighbourhood Watch and co-ordinated action this week.

The reported incidents were attended by police, who are investigating.
