Last Sunday, about 20 Our Lady’s College Old Girls met for their 60th reunion with their former teacher Sister Anna Maria O’Shea, who is now 93 years old and lives in Wembley.
Mrs Batini said every time the Year 10 class came together for a reunion, it felt like their last day of school was “just yesterday”.
Our Lady’s College at Victoria Square in Perth is now Mercedes College.
“It was a very close-knit class. I only got into trouble for talking and laughing. You’re the same, you never change on the inside…we are all the same people,” Mrs Batini said.
The former classmates, who all celebrate their 75th birthday this year, came from across WA, Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria for the reunion.
Mrs Batini said she had beautiful memories of her time at school and of Sister Anna Maria, who she said “ran a tight ship” and was “very Irish”.
Old girl Jenifer Stewart said in her schooling days, most teachers had to teach almost all subjects.
“Sister Anna Maria came out from Ireland as a young nun,” Mrs Stewart said.
“It was a very happy class.”
