Construction on the major public realm upgrade from Roberts to Bagot roads will start in April.

“Rokeby Road is at the heart of Subiaco and this refurbishment will improve essential elements of our iconic strip, including lighting, street furniture and the median strip and kerbing,” Mr Burnett said.

“The City considers these works an important investment in the revitalisation of the town centre.

“When you add up all the works taking place this year, you’re going to see a major difference.”

The upgrades will include removing sections of the median strip and installing new kerbing, bollard and planter boxes, raising parking bays for alfresco dining, new light poles that will be used for banners, overhead signage and hanging baskets, and improved street furniture.

Mr Burnett said there would be minimal disruption to local businesses.

“Where possible, works will be held at night and we will be liaising with local business owners and residents at each stage,” he said.

“We’re looking forward to providing a fresh overall upgrade just in time for Christmas.”
