Rottnest drug bust: man charged and eight evicted after targeted operation

ROTTNEST police have charged a 19-year-old man from Wembley with a series of offences after a targeted drug operation on the island.

The operation, on Monday, focused on university students arriving by ferry to the island.

During the search officers located and seized a quantity of Cannabis, MDMA, LSD, mushrooms and drug paraphernalia.

Nine cannabis intervention notices were issued, two people were summonsed for drug-related offences and eight people were evicted from the island.

A man from Wembley has been charged with two counts of possessing any drug paraphernalia in which there was a prohibited drug or plant, as well as possession of MDMA and Cannabis with an intent to supply or sell.

He is due to appear in court at a later date.
