Vice-president Ted Zappara said The Hub had better amenities and would allow the association to better interact with Rottnest Island Authority (RIA) staff and the island community.

‘Tours will still leave from the Salt Store and we will still spend a lot of our time there,’ Mr Zappara, a volunteer of 10 years, said.

‘We will eventually incorporate our service at the Visitor Centre.’

Mr Zappara will start his two-year tenure as president in August.

‘I want to keep improving the tours and I want us to become more interactive with the RIA,’ he said.

The Salt Store will remain an exhibition space.
