Rottnest: rock’s reflection looks like a quokka

Staff WriterWestern Suburbs Weekly

A quirky optical illusion has a rock on Rottnest’s reflection looking like one of the island’s famous quokka inhabitants.

Photographer Denise Rix told Simon Beaumont on Afternoon on 6PR that she took the photo on Saturday morning at Geordie Bay at Rottnest.

“It’s an optical illusion that somehow looks exactly like a quokka,” she said.

“On Sunday I took all the images off the camera and I was looking at it and I was a little bit baffled.

“So I called in my son and said what can you see? He said a rock.”

It was when Ms Rix pointed out the reflection that her son noticed the quokka.

Ms Rix said she hadn’t edited the photo to look more like a quokka.

“It’s freaky and a little bit of Rottnest magic,” she said.
