THE first stage of the Nedlands Safe Active Streets program is now underway.
The City of Nedlands and Department of Transport launched the program outside Nedlands Primary School on Wednesday .
The program was initiated by the Department of Transport about seven years ago and has already been constructed in Joondalup, Mount Hawthorn, Belmont and Bayswater.
City of Nedlands Mayor Max Hipkins said the initiation of the safe streets program featured the inclusion of a 30km/h speed limit, blue and white road patches and signage.

READ NOW“Construction work begins in Elizabeth Street this week and the first stage of the work is scheduled for completion before Christmas,” he said.
“We are very pleased to partner with the State Government’s Department of Transport, and welcome its funding for this project.”
Mr Hipkins said the aim of the program was to create safe routes for families, children, pedestrians and cyclists to enjoy healthy outdoor activities.
