A SCARBOROUGH carpark is finally set to be sold.

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage announced last January it would sell the Reserve Street carpark land at the northeast corner of the Scarborough Beach precinct.

A spokeswoman said the site could potentially be developed for residential, retail and hospitality use.

The department previously said the land would be available for purchase in June, then October and it is now set for early next year.

“Preparations for sale of the land have been finalised with expressions of interest from developers to be sought in early 2020,” the spokeswoman said.

“Marketing of the site was postponed until after the Christmas period to maximise the effectiveness of the sales campaign.”

The land has been used as a carpark since the 1970s, offering 110 bays, and the buyer will be required to provide a minimum of 100 public bays.
