“The new Scores on Doors program promotes and celebrates the Claremont businesses that have outstanding food safety and hygiene.”
The new program is based on the unannounced, mandatory food inspections that are already being carried out by Town of Claremont.
It will include any businesses serving food, such as restaurants, pubs, bars, cafes and takeaway outlets.
Environmental health officers examine how food is stored, prepared, cooked and served, as well as staff hygiene and knowledge, cleaning, sanitisation and pest control.
Following inspection, businesses scoring three stars or more will be offered a certificate and window sticker to display to customers.
The ratings will also be available to view on the Town of Claremont website.
