Sculptures to sea five more years on beach

At last week’s meeting, Cottesloe councillors agreed to a five-year memorandum of understanding with the organisers of the annual exhibition.

‘If the State Government does get away with forced amalgamations, the last thing we want is this organisation to be floundering outside the doors of a new council,’ Mayor Kevin Morgan said.

The council wants Cottesloe to be the continuing venue for the exhibition, which since 2007 has attracted up to 200,000 people in early autumn.

The new memorandum allows more than 70 exhibits during the two-week exhibition and exclusive rights for commercial operations.
