Body found in search of missing man

POLICE have confirmed they have found a body in the search for missing Alexander Heights man Peter Tuohey.

The 57-year-old was on board a recreational boat with his wife and friends when he fell overboard a boat travelling from Rottnest to Hillarys Boat Harbour yesterday afternoon.

Police said the body of a man believed to be Mr Tuohey was found in the northern part of the search area at about 2pm this afternoon.

Mr Tuohey fell overboard just before 4.00pm and was noticed missing by those on board shortly after.

The skipper alerted Water Police who commenced and coordinated search operations, which was suspended at midnight last night and resumed at 8am this morning.

Police said the search operation over the past 24 hours included an area of 108 square nautical miles between Rottnest Island and Hillarys.

The investigation into circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
