Shenton College students and teachers win big at WA World Teachers’ Day awards

TWO teachers and two students from Shenton College were granted awards at the United Nations Association of Australia WA World Teachers’ Day ceremony, held last month.

Mathematics teacher Samantha White science teacher Rebecca McKinney were both recognised for teaching STEM and for piloting the Global Citizenship & Sustainability Program at the college.

Four of the STEM students were also finalists on the night.

Year 10 students Elizabeth Tweedie and Genevieve Le won the secondary school category, 2018 Global Goals Challenge, for their creation of the Helios app.

Helios was an app the girls created with empathy for the average student and their needs, focusing on mental, physical and emotional health.
