Shenton Park: Catholic priest charged with historical child sex offences

POLICE have charged an 83-year-old former Catholic priest with child sex offences.

It is alleged that between 1979 and 1992, the man physically and sexually assaulted seven children (girls and boys) who were aged between 6 and 12 years of age at the time of the first offence.

At the time of the offences, the man was a Priest at a Catholic Church in Shenton Park.

The man has been charged with six counts of indecent dealing with a child under 14 years, one count of unlawfully and indecently assaulting a male and two counts of unlawful assault.

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today.
