CLAREMONT’S Contempo Studio is the first interior destination in Australia to source and import any design of a European product a customer asks for.
“We now act on behalf of the end user, which is our point of difference – people know their own taste and people know what they like but don’t know how to execute it, so we take that pressure off,” co-owner Lillie Bull said.
“It’s not a retail showroom by any means.”

READ NOWCottesloe residents and owners Lillie and Jonathon Bull opened their new studio in October. The couple originally owned a showroom in Osborne Park called Contempo, with a sole focus on selling brands.
“We used to be all about brands previously with what we used to do, but now we’re brand agnostic,” Ms Bull said.
Ms Bull said their new venture, in the heart of Claremont along Stirling Highway, moved away from a traditional retail business to a European product-sourcing studio.
She said they were the first interior business in Australia to offer The Source, an online interior product-sourcing system on such a large scale.
“We’re not here to supply just what we have, but to also supply to customers what works for them,” Ms Bull said.
“You’ll be sitting in a hotel lobby, for example in New York or LA or London, and you see this amazing design – you can then upload the design online, send it to us and we can source the exact product.”
Ms Bull said the complimentary service was offered to customers to help them find what they were looking for, rather than try to sell them something.
“It’s more about using the network we have in Europe and getting you the product at the best available price we can,” she said.
“It’s about taking away the hassle of customers sourcing interior pieces because we will do it all for you, install it for you and will even install projects for our eastern states customers as well.”
The future seems bright for the couple, who have plans to look at enabling customers to also source products from LA.
“We’re now looking to hopefully go over in January to have that combination of European and a hint of that vintage product,” she said.
