OFFERING locally made products is the cornerstone of the revamped IGA Cottesloe at the Eric Street shopping centre.

“I’m bringing in the local products because it’s good for business and the community,” manager Anne Welden said.

“You won’t find these in the chain supermarkets.”

Jars of WA honey from Cottesloe-based duo The Beekeepers, Rocky Road chocolate and Simply Amazing biscotti are among some of the homegrown lines.

Ms Welden said customers now expected more from their stores, so hers had all that was needed for entertaining.

“There are more gourmet cakes, cheeses, snacks, and for the health-conscious, paleo and high-fibre products,” she said.

Cheese lovers can indulge in the new European, US, Swiss and Australian products, which now have their own section.

“There is even a green pesto cheese from Holland,’” Ms Welden said.

The store has had a six-month facelift that finished the week before Easter.

“We’ve opened up eight aisles and now people say it looks new,” Ms Welden said.

An enlarged fresh food section with new flooring, entrance and lighting now welcomes customers with produce obtained directly from Go Fresh in Canning Vale.

The deli counter has also been lengthened to offer three times more choice.
