Just over 10 years ago they lost their mother Kate to leukaemia, turning their world upside down. On March 16, the women will shave their locks to help raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.

They have registered for the World’s Greatest Shave 2013 and, in memory of their mother, have been entered as Kate’s Dollies.

Georgia, who works in Subiaco, said she expected to be nervous but excited on the day of the shave but could not think of a better way to honour her mum and to raise money.

The sisters have warmed the hearts of family and friends with their efforts, exceeding a target of $5000 in the first month.

‘We believe in our generation many people care too much about their looks; we believe it is important to be selfless,’ Jessica said.

‘Our motto is ‘hair doesn’t’ define who you are’.

‘Hopefully with this help one day there will be a cure for cancer and people won’t have to go through the heartbreak that we have experienced with our mum.’

The sisters hope to raise $7000 before the shave. Visit http://my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/katesdollies.
