Spate of shark sightings off Perth metro beaches

THERE has been a spate of shark sightings off Perth metropolitan beaches today.

Early this morning, a large unidentified shark was spotted 10m off the shore at Palm Beach.

That was followed by a medium-sized hammerhead seen 500m off Penguin Island.

Later, there was a 3m unknown species of shark spotted 100m offshore at Scarborough.

Around the same time, the Westpac Helicopter spotted a 3m unknown species off shark off Pinnaroo Point just north of Hillarys.

Around midday, the helicopter spotted a 2m unknown species off Transit Rocks at Rottnest Island.

An unknown species was spotted by a member of the public about 30m offshore at Mettams Pool.

And a large shark was spotted 100m off Port Beach heading towards Leighton Beach.
