ST HILDA’s Year 12 student Celeste Kalnenas will travel to Paris next year after winning the WA Alliance Française competition.
The prize includes a return trip to Paris, where she can put her French skills to practise.
Celeste was part of a group of years 10, 11 and 12 students who took the Alliance Française exam.
She said she had been studying the language for more than half her life.
“It’s very good preparation for the WACE exam and you should take every opportunity to listen to French,” she said. “With my prize I’ll be able to go to Paris in the summertime in June next year. I imagine it will look very beautiful.”
St Hilda’s French teacher Madame Jane Putigny congratulated all the students on their achievements.
“To come so far in a competition that involved so many students across the State is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the enthusiastic engagement of our students with the St Hilda’s French program.”
