Victoria RificiWestern Suburbs Weekly

ST John of God Subiaco Hospital’s new a la carte menu is providing maternity patients with a hotel style experience.

Ward 54 maternity patients are currently able to order from the menu between 5.30pm and 10.30pm, seven days a week, as part of the hospital’s three month trial.

The menu includes vegan, gluten free, low listeria, meat and vegetarian options and patients have the choice of a main course and dessert.

First time parents and Subiaco residents Leah and Anthony McEvoy, who have been trialling the menu following the birth of their baby boy, said they had enjoyed the food.

“I would like to see this as a permanent option because if we ever come back with another one, I’d love to have the choice,” Leah said.

St John of God Subiaco Hospital chief executive Professor Shirley Bowen said the trial was introduced to provide the highest quality patient care and services.

“Based on the delicious food available and the convenience offered, the menu is already proving to be very popular and will most likely become permanent at the end of the trial period,” she said.
