Stolen Jeep mounts footpath, enters park to avoid police

POLICE are looking for those responsible for stealing a Jeep Wrangler from Peppermint Grove last night.

The vehicle was parked on The Esplanade when it was taken about 9pm.

Police on patrol spotted the stolen Jeep travelling on Stirling Highway, near Johnson Street in Peppermint Grove.

Police activated lights and siren but the driver sped off.

The Jeep continued along Stirling Highway before mounting the footpath and driving into Boundary Park in Mosman Park where police lost sight of the vehicle.

The Jeep was later seen on Gordon Street in Crawley and continued through the suburbs of Como, South Perth, Manning, Murdoch and Willagee before being found abandoned on McMahon Way in Samson.

Inquiries are continuing into the occupants of the vehicle.
