SUBI Kids Crew (SKC) visited the City of Subiaco council chambers yesterday to learn the roles of Mayor Penny Taylor and chief executive Rochelle Lavery.

Nine kids, aged seven to eleven, who live or study in the City of Subiaco, were taught what it meant to be a leader and the different roles and responsibilities of local government.

They took on the role of junior councillors and interacted with Ms Taylor and the Ms Lavery, as they conducted a mock council meeting.

“The kids had interesting questions and perspectives,” Ms Taylor said.

“In setting up a mock-council, the arguments during debate were really interesting – the future is in good hands.”

SKC meet four times a year and are given opportunities to develop leadership ambassadorial and interpersonal skills.
