ARTIST impressions of the new $68 million Inner City College have been released.

The school will be built at Kitchener Park in Subiaco, with Year 7 students set to sit down at their desks in 2020.

“Inner City College will provide students with a high quality education in modern, first-class facilites,” education minister Sue Ellery said.

“Its location next to the iconic Subiaco Oval means the school will become the heart of the Subiaco precinct and have direct engagement with the local community.”

Inner City College will have a gifted and talented academic program open to students from across the state, and Ms Ellery said parents have already called to check the local intake area.

Recruitment for the foundation principal is now open with an appointment expected in April.

Premier Mark McGowan said the multimillion dollar development will help provide the infrastructure required to keep up with the growing inner city student population.

“The project, together with the exciting transformation of Subiaco Oval in to a community hub will create thousands of jobs and deliver an active neighbourhood on the edge of the CBD,” he said.

The community will have access to the oval as a shared facility, with the playing surface retained as public space.
