Subiaco boy’s refreshing gesture really hits the spot for Fred Hollows Foundation

FROM selling lemonade to washing cars, Basile Allegre (11) has had a busy few months raising funds for people in need.

The Subiaco resident was inspired by his PEAC course to raise money for the Fred Hollows Foundation.

“I was amazed learning that over 30 million people in the world are blind, and 80 per cent can be cured for as little as $25,” Basile said.

He cleaned vehicles, kept aside pocket money and sold lemonade by Lake Jualbup during a Subiaco Scouts event.

“I raised $93 when my target was $50,” Basile said.

“I felt a bit proud and also relieved, I didn’t know I was going to get that money.”

Basile hoped his fundraising efforts would inspire others to give to the cause.
