Subiaco council candidates meet and talk at Regal Theatre

SIX of 13 Subiaco council candidates voiced their opinions on issues affecting the City at a Meet the Candidates session last Thursday.

Candidates Peter McAlister, Barbara Booth, Thierry Yik Long, Shannon Hennessy, David Eden and Benjamin Dudley were part of independent community group SubiAction’s event at the Regal Theatre.

About 50 people heard each candidate talk for five minutes on why they are running for council and what they believe are the important issues facing the City.

Issues raised by candidates included planning policies and developments, empty shop space and foot traffic, financial management of City services and materials and the need for increased vibrancy within Subiaco streets.

Council candidates who did not attend were Rick Powell, Angela Hamersley, Lynette Jennings, Rosemarie De Vries, Stephanie Stroud, Blake Phelan and Judith Gedero.
