Victoria RificiWestern Suburbs Weekly

SUBIACO kids will have a new place to play with the launch of Market Square Playground.

Mayor Penny Taylor unveiled the new $122,000 playground to a Year 5 Subiaco Primary student audience.

“Play spaces like this are important to children in the community. When I see or speak to kids in the community and ask what they love most about Subiaco, they say parks and playgrounds,” Ms Taylor said.

The City received community requests in its early planning stages to make use of the unused skate park at Market Square.

The decision was then made by the City to build the new playground at the old skate park.

“When we were replacing the old playground, the City spent a number of months consulting with the community and asking them feedback on what they wanted in this space,” Ms Taylor said.

“This playground is a direct result of the community feedback.”

Market Square Playground will be fenced by mid-June.
