THE Subiaco Theatre Festival will kick off tomorrow, bringing four local theatre companies to the Subiaco Arts Centre stage.

The festival, which is in its third year, will give local artists a chance to showcase their talent.

City of Subiaco Mayor Heather Henderson said the festival would add life to Subiaco.

“Subiaco Arts Centre has a long history as a cultural hub for the Subiaco community and this festival is going to bring plenty of art, visitors and life to Subiaco,” she said.

“The City of Subiaco is pleased to partner with the Subiaco Theatre Festival to support the work of emerging actors and producers.”

The festival will include the winner of best performance at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, FAG/STAG, the award-winning playwright I honestly love you by Damon Lockwood, Moving On Inc. by Lost Boys Theatre and Coincidences at the end of time by Second Chance Theatre.

The festival will also be collaborating with seven local businesses to offer the taste of Subiaco to theatregoers.

Whisk Creamery manager Simone Nelva said he was looking forward to the festival.

“We were approached by the organisers to partner with the festival and we were excited to take part,” he said.

“I think the festival will be positive for Subiaco and bring a lot more people into the area.”

The Subiaco Theatre Festival will run from June 8 to July 2.

Tickets are now on sale at Ticketek.
