Subilicious to bring bubbling, sensory entertainment hub to Subiaco’s West End for Fringe World

Victoria RificiWestern Suburbs Weekly

UNICORNS, street performers and pop-up bars will paint Subiaco’s West End pink this month, part of the city’s first ever Fringe World entertainment hub Subilicious.

“We wanted people to feel like they were entering a hub bubbling with life,” Subiaction chairwoman and Regal Theatre general manager Kim Knight said.

Subilicious, a Subiaction, See Subiaco and Fringe World 2019 initiative, will link the Regal Theatre with the Subiaco Arts Centre and provide an immersive, sensory experience along Rokeby Road.

“Cabaret, circus, live music, live artists, unicorns, Subilicious cocktails, two pop-up bars and street performances – Subilicous events are more towards adult entertainment but there also children’s performances happening at both Subiaco Arts Centre and Regal Theatre,” Miss Knight said.

The city will come alive with scattered events in the evening from January 24 to January 26, and January 31 to February 2 with pop-up bars open from 6pm until midnight.

Miss Knight said Subilicous was both fun and a “little bit naughty”.

“Subilicious was the name we decided on because we felt this described the feelings we were discussing and the performances we wanted to offer the patrons,” she said.

“Both Kate Bell and myself run the main theatre spaces in Subiaco and we wanted the hub to be something that will grow each year.”

Two pop-up bars, Pink Palace and The Fuzz, will be available to Subilicious followers before dancing to the silent beats of Boogie Shoes on a tour through Subiaco.

Stellar Lounge, Cellarbrations, The Regal theatre and Subiaco Arts centre will also light up the city pink.
