Swanbourne residents detain man after he allegedly stole from car

Jon BassettWestern Suburbs Weekly

SWANBOURNE residents caught and held a man who was allegedly stealing from a 4WD near the intersection of Kirkwood and Wood streets about 7.30 this morning.

“He allegedly attempted to steal a handbag from a car nearby,” Sergeant Paul Gelmi said.

Sgt Gelmi said the residents grabbed the man when he attempted to run from the $WD, and kept him until Cottesloe police arrived.

In the past week, there have been at least three reports of thefts from cars in Swanbourne, and another four in nearby Cottesloe.
