Swimming art chosen for Port to Pub promotion

WORK by Cottesloe artist Sim Campbell-Pope will promote the 2019 Hotel Rottnest Port to Pub swim from North Fremantle to Rottnest Island in 2019.

“The work took about a week to complete however this was stretched over three weeks due to having a new baby in the house,” Ms Campbell-Pope said.

Her acrylic on canvas work shows the race’s Leighton Beach start and Fremantle Port cranes.

It will be printed on the shirts and towels used by the competitors.

The original was auctioned in March for a donation to the charity Fremantle Foundation that supports community groups in and near the port city.

The fourth annual Port to Pub over 19.7km to the island is expected to attract about 1500 novice and competitive swimmers in solo, duo, four- and six-member teams next year.

Entrants can also race in the 25km ultra-marathon and K&L Gates Corporate Cup.
