Ms Honey said production design was a combination of history and aesthetics through researching time periods and using her creative skills.

“The whole point of (production design) is that you’re not supposed to watch a movie and think that it’s all designed and that someone put it there,” she said.

“Production design is not as discussed as other fields in film, so I did not really know that it existed.

“I know that I still have so much to learn on films and the people like Rick Carter, who just did Star Wars, have been working for years… to get to that point where he has those skills.”

Ms Honey worked on the film Sleight, which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

St Hilda’s media teacher Lisa Barrett said the visit inspired the arts and media students.

“The current students are now thinking anything is actually possible and have learnt a great lesson in resilience and patience and hard work,” Ms Barrett said.
