A TEACHER, a student, a volunteer and a sport club were recognised in 2019 Australia Day awards from Mosman Park Council this morning.

The Citizen of the Year was Mosman Park Primary School year 3 teacher Geoff Davey, who specialises in sports and physical education.

“Geoff has been active in a leadership and mentoring role with his students, particularly the young boys, for whom he models the values of having a go, taking risks, stepping up to take challenges, and the importance of maintaining good health and nutrition,” Mosman Park Mayor Bret Pollock said.

The Youth Citizen of the Year was Iona Presentation College student Olivia Martin for her chairing of the Mosman Park Youth Advisory Council, and she has volunteered at Australia Day, Anzac Day, Mosman Park Community Fair, skate park consultations and Halloween at the Grove Library.

Resident Peter Dring received the Senior Citizen of the Year for his contributions to building of the award-winning Russell Brown Adventure Park, which included organising a donated front-end loader and bobcat for two months.

Mosman Park Tennis Club was awarded the Event of the Year for its free social tennis in October.
