Top baby names for boys and girls born in WA in 2018 revealed

TRY not to call your son Oliver if you’re looking for a unique baby name in WA.

The name Oliver has been top of the pops in Perth and Western Australia since 2013.

It was the most popular name for a boy in 2018 with 244 newborns receiving the name.

More than 180 newborn girls were named Ava and more than 180 were named Charlotte – with these names tying for first place.

They were followed by Mia (2nd), Olivia (3rd) and Amelia (4th) with Isla coming in fifth.

Jack (2nd), Noah (3rd), William (4th) and Leo (5th) were in the top five for boys. You can check out the full list here.

Harper (6th), Grace (7th), Chloe (8th), Willow (9th) and Zoe (10th) rounded out the top ten list for girls.

Experiencing a resurgence in popularity were the names James (6th) and Thomas (7th), Ethan was eighth, while Logan and Charlie tied for ninth place and Lucas came in tenth.

Meanwhile, website Nameberry has released it’s most popular baby names for the first quarter of 2019. (Full list here).

The flowery name Posie came in first for girls, followed by Isla, Olivia, Aurora and Maeve.

For boys the old fashioned name Milo was in number one spot, followed by Jasper, Atticus, Theodore and Asher.

This list is based on what parents are searching for now and is a good indicator of what names will be popular in the future.
