THE long-awaited quokka selfie from Thor star Chris Hemsworth has been posted.
Hemsworth even went a step further, delighting followers with a video of how he was able to capture the soon-to-be-famous shot.
He joked he had spent three weeks “crawling around the dirt studying the quokkas movements, mimicking their language and eventually gained their trust and was accepted as one of them”.
“I now go by the name Quokkachris,” he posted.
His selfie also encourages people to visit Rottnest Island, in what is sure to be a coup for Tourism WA.
“Epic little creatures are all over the island just cruisin through the day doin their thing.
“Get there and check it out!”
Hemsworth and Hollywood mate Matt Damon have been on the west coast with their families as part of a WA adventure that included a week surfing in Red Bluff, 120km north of Carnarvon.
Hemsworth and his family travelled to the island by helicopter on Wednesday, while Damon and his family travelled by ferry yesterday morning, both returning to Perth via helicopter yesterday afternoon.
Hemsworth’s quokka selfie follows those of other celebrities including Margot Robbie, Roger Federer and Hugh Jackman.
