Today Tonight axed after 25 years

TODAY Tonight, a staple of Perth’s media landscape for 25 years, has been axed.

Staff in the Perth newsroom were told today that Friday’s episode would be the last to go to air.

The Adelaide edition of the show will air its last episode on Thursday.

Seven West’s director of news and public affairs, Craig McPherson said the program had “dominated in Perth and Adelaide” for 25 years.

“To end such a successful reign has been one of the toughest decisions but a necessary one as the audiences shift and change along with the economics,” he said.

“I want to thank all both past and present Today Tonighters.

“Always committed. Always passionate.”
