THE Town of Cambridge will retain eight councillors plus the mayor under two wards, a structure that was supported by the majority of ratepayers during public consultation.
Council voted unanimously at a meeting on Tuesday to retain the existing structure of two wards, Wembley and Coast, each represented by four councillors and send their decision to the Local Government Advisory Board.
During public consultation on the Town’s ward and representation discussion paper, 149 submissions were received with 85 per cent voting to keep eight councillors plus the mayor and two wards.

The third most popular option was to create four wards, each represented by two councillors, while having no wards was the least favoured option.
