Transformation inside and out at Wanslea

Denise S. CahillWestern Suburbs Weekly

"People walk through there scared and frightened but say it feels so wonderful being inside," the Cancer Wellness Centre wellness facilitator said.

"It was amazing to see it transformed."

The restoration of the 1905 State Heritage Registered Cottesloe building received the prestigious Gerry Gauntlett Award at the recent WA Heritage Awards.

Heritage Minister Albert Jacob said Wanslea was an outstanding conservation and refurbishment project that considered the building's history, while sensitively incorporating contemporary elements.

Cathy said the final product was worth the disruption during restoration work.
