Tricycle thefts push victim to ill-health

‘It had plastic pipes for my crutches and the thieves would have known I needed it, as it’s not just pleasure transport. I use it for getting about and earning my living,’ Mrs Meighan said.

The thieves cut through two chains around the unrecovered $2200 electric tricycle, bought before Christmas, in the carport of her York Street home on March 4.

Just four months earlier, Mrs Meighan’s first tricycle was taken and left unusable, after it was also stolen for a joyride and left at nearby flats early last year.

The thefts have cost Mrs Meighan about $4000 in replacements, repairs and insurance, leaving her to rely on a car to get to her full-time job at the City of Subiaco.
