TWO Belmont men have been charged following a police pursuit through the western and southern suburbs yesterday.

Police used the stinger tyre puncture device in Floreat in two attempts to stop a stolen Volkswagen Golf taken from the suburb on Monday.

“The stolen vehicle was sighted in City Beach yesterday and it will be alleged the driver did not stop when requested to do so by police and accelerated away,” a police spokesman said.

The stinger was used a second time in Perth, before its two occupants abandoned the vehicle on Hovia Terrace, Como.

The men ran away, and it will be alleged they attempted to stop several motorists on Canning Highway to potentially hijack or escape in another vehicle.

Kensington-based detectives arrested the men on the highway, before they were charged by Midland detectives.
