Typo on $50 note the RBA’s ‘responsibilty’

The new $50 note.
The new $50 note.

IT’S an incredible responsibility to produce currency.

You have to make sure every detail is spot on.

Which is why the Reserve Bank of Australia’s typo – occurring three times no less – is incredibly embarrassing.

The word ‘responsibility’ is misspelled three times on the Edith Cowan side of the note as ‘responsibilty’.

The text is an extract from Cowan’s first speech to the Western Australian Parliament.

The print is only visible with a magnifying glass, but on close inspection the typo is real.

Radio station Triple M was alerted to the typo by a budding proof reader with very good eyes.

The new $50 note entered circulation in October last year, but the misprint is only coming to light now.
