UWA chancellor resigns to head to Auckland

UNIVERSITY of WA vice-chancellor of six years Dawn Freshwater resigned on June 5.

Prof Freshwater will become vice-chancellor of the University of Auckland in New Zealand from next March

“She has established a new executive leadership team and, in conjunction with them, has developed a vision and strategic plan to guide the University of WA through to 2025 and beyond to 2030,” University of WA Chancellor Robert French said.

Prof Freshwater developed the campus master plan to best use its buildings and hired 40 senior academic staff for its Be Inspired program.

“She has played a leading role in the establishment of the UWA Public Policy Institute, focused on the delivery of real world solutions to challenges in the Indo-Pacific Region,” Prof French said.

The University of WA’s Senate will immediately start finding a replacement.
