IN a moment of extreme transparency, the Police Commissioner Chris Dawson revealed to Perth media today that he received a speeding fine.

On Friday, September 28, Mr Dawson was photographed exceeding the 50 km/h speed limit on Plain St, near Bronte St, East Perth, at a recorded speed of 59km/h.

It happened when Mr Dawson was driving his private car to the National Police Remembrance Day Service at the Police Academy in Joondalup.

Mr Dawson said paid the $100 fine as soon as he received the infringement.

There were no demerit points associated with the fine and Mr Dawson has no demerit points on his driver’s licence.

“As Commissioner of Police I am very aware of the consequences of speeding and I acknowledge my mistake,” Mr Dawson said.

“Speeding is a focus of our traffic enforcement effort and this reinforces that no one is immune from being caught.”
