WA shark monitoring system goes down

WA shark monitoring system goes down

JUST when you thought it was safe to go back in the water… a shark advice has been issued for WA waters after a temporary outage of the shark notification system.

Due to a system outage, tagged shark detections from the Shark Monitoring Network are currently offline.

The outage affects all shark monitoring receivers in Perth metro, South West, Albany and Esperance.

What to do:

– Adhere to any beach closures advised by Local Government Rangers or Surf Life Saving WA.

– If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600. All shark sighting information reported to Water Police is provided to response agencies and to the public on the SharkSmart website and the Surf Life Saving WA Twitter feed.
