HISTORY was made in Subiaco this morning when the last corner of the former Subiaco Pavilion Market was demolished.
People watched on as the corner wall, facing the Roberts Road and Rokeby Road intersection, was hit by the bulldozer.
City of Subiaco Mayor Penny Taylor, as well as councillors Matt Davis, Jodi Mansfield and Murray Rowe were among those who witnessed the historic event.

The site has sat derelict for 10 years and will pave way for Blackburne’s $235 million Subiaco Pavilion Market redevelopment.
“The City of Subiaco endorses this decision because of its great design and community contribution, and some people have had concerns about the height but the City of Subiaco council was won over by its great design and what it gives back to the community,” Mayor Taylor said.
Blackburne Property Group Managing Director Paul Blackburne said the group had almost finalised plans as well as six interior design schemes for the apartments.
“It’s a really exciting time to see the site come down and move towards redeveloping the site,” he said.
“It’s the main corner of Subiaco and heart and soul of Subiaco – seeing it derelict for the last ten years has really held Subi back and this will be a major catalyst for change.”
“We are on track for the public release of the apartments across all three buildings at 10am on October 5.
“We have now had 574 people register before advertising has started and will be allowing those that have pre-registered the chance to view the new display on Rokeby and buy before the public release.”
A new $1 million display for the redevelopment will be complete by June 10.
“We will then allow the people that are pre-registered to view the new display on Rokeby with private viewings before the public release – we expect most of the project to sell soon after the public launch,” he said.
Mr Blackburne said the redevelopment will be completed in around three years.
“This gives people plenty of time to sell their home or prepare for settlement,” he said.
