Wembley car theft: Beechboro man (34) charged

A BEECHBORO man (34) has been charged over the alleged armed robbery with a knife of a 90-year-old Wembley woman last Tuesday.

Police will allege the man threatened the woman with a knife, pulled her from her car and stole it.

“It will be alleged about 2.15pm the man approached the victim as she sat inside her vehicle in her driveway and demanded her car,” a police spokesman said .

He was arrested at a Wembley business last Wednesday, when police allege they found property linking him to the robbery and the woman’s address.

He was charged with aggravated armed robbery, possessing methylamphetamine, heroin and cannabis, and obstructing police, before being remanded to reappear at Perth Magistrates Court on September 16.

The woman’s 2010-model blue Hyundai Getz, registration 1DIV 501 has not been located, and police said that to allow the best forensic results it must not be touched if found, but reported by calling 131 444.
