West Leederville Residents Association to remain after vice-president steps up

THE West Leederville Residents Association will remain intact after vice-president Henry Stawarz agreed to take on the lead role and empty committee positions were filled.

Outgoing president Anne Lake, who will remain a member of the group but not a part of its committee, said it was time for new blood.

“It was time for others to handle things in a different way, otherwise it goes along the same path all the time,” she said.

“The change really was about getting in new blood.”

After struggling to attract nominations, Ms Lake said she had questioned whether there remained a place for the 12-year-old group.

“It made us ask whether this group was still fulfilling what was needed, if there was a better way of doing business and if we were still relevant,” she said.

But she said the new committee, to be unveiled in September, had her feeling confident the group would continue.
