THREE local organisations and one individual in the western suburbs have been named as finalists in the Community Services Excellence Awards.

Befriend in Crawley, Ruah Community Services and EON Foundation in Subiaco, and Fran Haintz from the Shooting Stars Program in Jolimont have all been recognised.

They are among 31 outstanding organisations and individuals announced across eight categories.

Community Services Minister Simone McGurk said the 99 nominations received demonstrated the level of pride, commitment and hard work in the community services sector.

“The range of projects and activities contained within these nominations is inspiring and great news for thousands of West Australians who rely on the sector for so much guidance, support and life-affirming opportunities,” she said.

The winners will be announced on May 2 at the 2018 WA Council of Social Service conference.
