A WOMAN in her 50s had a lucky escape when she veered off Mounts Bay Road and into the Swan River about 5.30pm on Tuesday.
The car was approaching UWA in Crawley when it left the road and plunged into the water.
She told police officers she had glanced at her GPS navigation system for a moment before ending up in the drink.
The woman was able to escape the vehicle and get back to the shore.
She escaped serious injury, but was taken to Royal Perth Hospital as a precaution.
A crane later removed the car from the water.
